Starting 17 August 2026, the ECT Delta terminal will begin deploying Facial Recognition on Chip (FROC) technology. The implementation will take place in phases, starting with lane 08. ECT aims to transition all six truck lanes at the ECT Delta terminal to facial recognition during 2026, making it the primary biometric identification method for drivers visiting the terminal.
Based on the experience gained at the ECT Euromax terminal, the equipment setup at the ECT Delta terminal has been optimized to achieve improved performance and higher recognition success rates.
This transition is part of the continued modernization of ECT’s security infrastructure. Facial recognition provides a fast, contactless, and reliable method of identification, supporting our ambition to further enhance both security and operational efficiency.
What does this mean for CargoCard users?
To maintain access to the ECT Delta terminal, it is essential that drivers have a CargoCard with facial recognition activated. Drivers who have not yet added facial recognition to their CargoCard may eventually be denied access to the terminal.
Finger vein technology will remain available during the transition period, but it will ultimately be phased out completely.
