Update on the Mandatory Safety Assessment for Drivers

Following requests from the market and consultations with industry association, the deadline for completing the mandatory safety assessment has been postponed from September to November 2026. This provides drivers with additional time to comply with the requirement.

From 3 November 2026, ECT will begin enforcing the safety assessment requirement. This means that drivers who have not successfully completed the assessment will no longer be granted access to the ECT Delta and ECT Euromax terminal.

We therefore strongly encourage transport companies and drivers not to wait until the last moment and to schedule an appointment in a timely manner.

Drivers who have already successfully completed the safety assessment are not required to take any further action at this stage. We are currently reviewing how the validity period of existing certificates will be aligned with the new enforcement date.

To provide drivers, and particularly night-shift drivers, with additional opportunities to complete the safety assessment, Secure Logistics will once again organise evening opening hours at the XS Kiosk located at the Maasvlakte Plaza Service Point. The upcoming evening sessions are scheduled as follows:

• Thursday, 17 September 2026
• Thursday, 1 October 2026
• Thursday, 15 October 2026
• Thursday, 29 October 2026
